This Leptastrea has a green base, green polyps, and a purple growth rim. Very bright under actinic lighting. Frags of this coral will be roughly 3/4" - 1".

 Leptastrea Coral Care

Leptastrea is a member of the Faviidae family and are an LPS coral despite their small polyp size. These corals grow in dome shapes and come in many different color morphs. Please see below for additional care tips for Leptastrea as well as checking out our Top 5 Tips for setting up a reef.

Moderate to high lighting is recommended. Leptastrea seem to do best under bright lighting.

Low Light

Low light translates to about 30-50 PAR

Medium Light

Medium Light is between 50-150 PAR

High Light

High Light is anything over 150 PAR

 Water Flow

Moderate to high water movement is recommended. Leptastrea is often found in high flow areas of the reef.


Leptastrea relies heavily on the products of their zooxanthellae. This coral may benefit from the addition of phytoplankton and other small morsels as a food source.


In terms of propagation, this genus has been successfully fragmented but often has a long recovery time.
